First Week of School

Welcome to the Explorer Team! We enjoyed meeting our new group yesterday and look forward to getting to know each of you in the following weeks. I am sure there were feelings at the end of the day that could be described as "confusing", "overwhelming", and "lost". Students, this is normal and we are here to help you learn your schedule and all of the things at WMS. Always feel free to ask us questions in the hallway or in class.

Along with those feelings listed above, we hope that you are also excited for a great school year ahead. Here are a few tips as you continue to get used to things at the middle school:

1. Get Organized! You now have 7 classes and materials will start piling up if you do not organize your things. Put things in your binders and make sure not to have any loose leaf papers in your locker.

2. Use your Assignment Notebook that you received on the first day of school. It allows you to write your homework down for each class and stay prepared for large assignments ahead. Procrastination can be painful.

3. Check the Explorer Teacher Blogs for homework. Between the boards in our rooms and our blogs, you should always know the homework for our classes.

4. When you get to your classes, double check that you are prepared for the lesson when the bell rings.
Example: Mr. Zimmer's Class: Check the Visual Cues on the board (the bam, bam, bam) to know how to be prepared each day.

5. Attend Help Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you need extra help. There is a late bus provided by the school.

6. Have fun and enjoy your 7th grade year. Make memories and make new friends. Try new activities, join a new club, and strive to help others.

7. Always be "YOU"! Never let peer pressure change the way you are and make sure to surround yourself with good peers. We are all UNIQUE and it is what makes the world a great place. If someone calls you "weird", say "thank you".
